montería

Undoubtedly the so-called "montería" is the oldest and most traditional form of hunting in Spain. It is aimed at deer, wild boar and even occasionally Fallow Deer and Mouflon hunting, offering the possibility of obtaining 2 or 3 animals per day and very good trophies.

This is a driven hunt in which the target area is very lush and overgrown and a stalk is impossible. The only way to dominate the animals of the area is through a ¨montería¨ or hunting party.

The hunters surround the area, each in a position assigned to him in the draw. Then the dogs are set loose, and guided by the mounted beaters who are responsible for pushing the game towards the posts.

The "montería" is one of the most beautiful sights that a hunter could wish to see and participate in, offering a unique and unsurpassable level of emotion and intensity, as well as a very sporty hunt.

It is impossible to put the emotions felt when participating in a "montería" into words. The sound of the dogs on the heels of the animals, spurred on by their keepers, breaking through the undergrowth and heading in our direction. Your heart leaps into your mouth and your legs tremble and when you least expect it, there it is, that majestic deer appears before you or a group of wild boar races towards you with the dogs urging them on from behind...
